This was my first full collection, we launched with a small capsule collection of elevated basics late last year.
Have you always worked in fashion?
No, this was a big career change for me. I started out working for high tech companies doing contract negotiations for several years in Silicon Valley.
What’s the inspiration behind this specific collection?
I’ve always loved modern architecture, especially its clean lines and sleek use of texturing. I thought it would be perfect for the YLIN aesthetic.
Tell us about the materials, fabrications, and details used.
Every season, I always try to use silks and cashmere. For FW14, I decided to incorporate some beautiful wools made in Italy. They’re quality is impeccable.
If you compared your designs to any place in the world, where would it be?
I love to travel, and people watch wherever I go. So, when I finally sit down to design my line, I take inspirations from everywhere. But I try to keep my clothing very versatile, appropriate wherever you may be in the world.
What fashion rules do you think should never be broken?
Honestly, there used to be all these rules with fashion. But nowadays, I think that every girl has their own style and if they make it work for them, then should rock it! Confidence makes any Woman beautiful, regardless of what/how they’re wearing it!
