LINCOLN GETS FANCY(IER)

Yeah, yeah, I know. Fancier is not spelt with a “y” but it’s intentional so let’s leave it at that. Anyway, The Lincoln Motor Company showed their new full-size sedan last week in a private unveiling. The Continental Concept is a first in a hopeful series of continual “quiet luxury” releases.

Lincoln and luxury in the same sentence? It’s not a stretch nor is it an overzealous claim. Imagine everything that makes a product, besides the name, luxury. Refined opulence and subtle elegance. Never gawdy, or attention seeking, but charming yet quiet. By definition a luxurious item is a material object, service, etc., conducive to sumptuous living, usually a delicacy of living rather than a necessity. Next to this explanation you’ll find a photo of Lincoln’s Continental Concept. Just kidding, but you get my point.

Within the car, set to be available starting next year, are details so finely tuned even craftsman would do a double take –

  • New technology that lights up on the inside and out as you approach.
  • Lincoln Continental’s signature color of Rhapsody Blue.
  • Venietian leather seats and door panels, Alcantara seat inserts and armrests, satin headliners, shearling wool carpet accented with Rose Gold trim around the instrument cluster.
  • Patented 30-way Lincoln-designed seats manufactured to conform to a passengers’ size and shape.
  • Passenger side-rear seat fully reclines by moving the front passenger seat forward – similar to recline of first class seating aboard planes.
  • SPD SmartGlass® tinting sunroof allows you to control the heat from direct sunlight. With a button, the glass can cool the interior by 18° F while still blocking 99% of UV rays.
  • Hidden attached storage space on back of the front seats. Perfect for car must haves, like extra device chargers or beauty products, yet sleekly out of view.

“Some brands talk about ‘the machine,’ ” said Kumar Galhotra, Lincoln president. “Lincoln is different. For us, it is about more than the machine. It is about what our vehicles do for our clients.”

Don’t take our (or Kumar’s) word for it. Visit them online and see what else this machine has to offer. Trust us… that Beemer you’ve been eyeing up won’t look so fancy anymore. Then again, it hasn’t for quite some time now.
