Starting tonight, the Magnet Theater presents the Fourth Annual New York Musical Improv Festival. With over 100 actors, the Magnet Theater presents a completely improvised musical, bringing us Broadway worthy numbers to street ready rap battles that would put many lyricists to shame.
In collaboration with Gilda’s Club NYC, the Magnet Theatre will do a special show to benefit their cause. Gilda’s Club of New York City, created in honor of comedy legend, Gilda Radner, has provided a community for men, women and children living with cancer to build emotional support in conjunction with their medical treatment. Though Breast Cancer Awareness month is here, we need not forget how important it is to spread awareness about all types of cancer.
Opening tonight with The Boom Box Kids & Choral Rage and ending Sunday with a benefit performance for Gilda’s Club NYC – featuring top female musical improv stars, like Tara Copeland’s “Generation G”, “Into the Woods” artist Cooper Grodin and Jill Bernard – there’s no better way to spend a weekend than laughing and giving back.
Most tickets are $10-$15 and include performances by two different musical improv acts per show, except the benefit performance. Tickets available atwww.brownpapertickets.com or by phone at 800-838-3006.
