Gucci and Kering appoint new Alessandro Michele as Gucci’s new Creative Director.
Born in Rome, Italy, Michele studied at Accademia di Costume e di Moda in Rome before joining Fendi as Senior Accessories Designer. Inherently talented and seen as a rising star, he was soon swooped up by Tom Ford and placed in Gucci’s London-based design office. Over the next 12 years Alessandro worked as Leather Goods Design Director in 2006, Associate Creative Director (at the time it was Frida Giannini) in May 2011, and Creative Director of Richard Ginori in September 2014. Now, just mere months later, Alessandro Michele is responsible for all of Gucci’s collections and global brand image.
Don’t be scared wee ones. Wouldn’t you want a talent who has worked in different arenas of the Gucci home, taking over the Gucci home? I sure do. A snippet of his new direction was revealed during Gucci Men’s FW 2015-16, but pay very close attention to Women’s FW 2015-16. That’s when his complete vision will be unveiled.
Congratulazioni, Alessandro. Buona fortuna!
