We haven’t done a Cartel Hangout in a while, and it being summer, there’s no better time to do one. This time around we’re talking Wölffer Estate Vineyard in the Hamptons. Let me clarify before you judge me on the Hamptons – I’m southern born and bred, and the glitz and glamour of the Hamptons, or the ideology of the Hamptons life doesn’t thrill me. I find it pretentious, slightly over the top, and very boring, but throw in the word vineyard and I’ll give anything another chance.
Located in the heart of the Hamptons resides 55 acres of sustainable farm vines creatingWölffer Estate Vineyard. Run by the Roth family, this natural retreat has a restaurant, in-house distillery, newly renovated wine bar, and roadside shop offering their classics and seasonal wine launches, with its latest being Summer in a Bottle. An homage to summer 2013, the ripe fruity notes and overall composition of 71% Merlot, 8% Chardonnay, 20% Gewürztraminer and 1% Petit Verdot the taste is noted as “a literal taste of the Hamptons high season.”
“We waited as long as possible to harvest the fruit for Summer in a Bottle. Choosing the perfect moment to pick was crucial to make this highly anticipated wine, bursting with the aromas and flavors of the seasonal fruits that reach their peak ripeness at the height of summer,” said Wölffer
Founded in 1987 by Christian Wölffer, Wölffer Estate Vineyard & Stables has been a European recreation in the isles of Long Island for over 30 years, hosting events open to the community. From the warm team filled with fascinating stories, to wine education, to stables of prize winning horses, it’s a Hamptons oasis that even amazed my cynical heart.
