I don’t want to call her an “emerging designer” as she’s worked with designers such as J. Mendel, Alexander Wang, Narciso Rodriguez and Vera Wang (RTW and Bridal), but I don’t want to call her a seasoned old timer, because, well, her success is truly blossoming.
{EM} Reservoir is a depiction of what women today not only need, but want in their closest. With all the running around we do, bags we carry and many hats we have to wear throughout the day, it never seems fair to decide between looking put together and chic, or looking like we just left heated yoga. Erin Murphy, the designer behind {EM} Reservoir, understands first hand and set out to incorporate functionality into her collections.
This season, inspired by Georgia O’Keeffe & early 1900s fishermen’s wear, Murphy cultivated a collection with such specific detail and versatility, that some collection pieces can be worn multiple ways, hidden pockets provide storage without destroying the overall ensembles look and smartly chosen fabrics give that extra pop of rich color. Taking into account her vegetarianism, leather pieces were made with vegan leather, ensuring no animals were harmed but providing the same look and feel of real leather.
{EM} Reservoir is currently available online and in boutiques stateside, including her newly opened store in Beacon, NY. But for our international readers, after a successful showcase atCAPSULE this season, {EM} Reservoir will be available internationally, very, very soon. And for evening wear and weddings, Erin Murphy also creates made to order pieces for bridal or otherwise.
