There’s a new laundry detergent, FREY, on the market created just for guys, and it’s pretty amazing. Laundry products over the years have been formulated with stereotypical feminine scents, so much that brands market towards women and kids (because they can convince parents to buy whatever in the stores), rather then men. But who really likes the smell of lemon scented raindrops on a winter day, or sun shining on a lavender field in Provence? Not me, and I’m sure millions of others as well. Why aren’t there more realistic, non-froufrou smelling products items out… especially for men?
I know. You’re probably thinking, “Tillie aren’t you a feminist? Guys have enough stuff!” And you’re right, they do. But women aren’t the only people do laundry, plus the excessively floral, powdery, citrusy notes make me gag. They’ve never sat well with me yet being the most popular kind available on the shelves, it’s been shoved down our throats for decades. Frey is the counterpart. Think light musk and amber – a little woodsy, but not to the point of sticking to your skin. It actually resembles the base notes of a well manufactured cologne.
Developed by brothers Leif and Erin Frey, the idea came about after realizing the lack of male marketed detergents. Initially launched under the name REAL, FREY began as a successful Kickstarter in 2014. Based off the high demand, the brothers re-branded the line to what it is today.
And don’t think it’s some sexy smelling concoction with no stain fighting power, because from the many loads I’ve done with it, it works better than a lot of the competitors out there while still being designer brand safe. Thanks to its formulation that preserve the color and feel of the garment to lengthen lifespan you won’t have to send your cotton Tom Ford button downs for dry cleaning; saving tons of money overtime. Plus the bottle’s label look so grown-up and sophisticated that from look alone I would trust this product over a photo a talking bear skipping in grass. That was cute when I was a child, not now.
FREY laundry detergent is currently available only online, either as a one-time purchase or through a subscription starting at around $14. For more information or to try them risk-free, visit them online.
