Last week, Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group celebrated it’s 50th anniversary of its flagship Hong Kong property in typical luxurious style. With over 800 celebrities, dignitaries and society guests from Hong Kong and around the world, attendees were wined and dined in an over the top, glamorous gala. And though the history and amenities behind one of the most respected hotel groups in the world is more befitting to the story, my attention was all on the fashion the guest strutted down the red carpet. Especially, Helen Mirren’s red Dolce and Gabbana gown. Then again, she’s always one to turn head wherever she goes.
After the red carpet arrival commenced an out spectacle of history, design and technology through 3D projection on the hotel’s face. From there, performances by Karen Mok, Bryan Ferry (well known for his addition The Great Gatsby soundtrack), the City Contemporary Dance Company and much more, wowed the guests well in the wee hours. It’s unfortunate, events of such grandeur happen as often, stateside.
