Summer blockbusters are making their way to the silver screens. And with every premiere comes with celeb looks we want to replicate, like Emily VanCamp’s nude nails. I know we opt for neons and corals come spring/summer, but nothing screams simply chic like nude. So to create Emily’s mani, we had Celebrity Manicurist, Alex Jachno tell us how to do it at home.
“You always want to look at the nail bed and finger shape to help determine what shape will look best. Emily’s nail beds were long and slender so a rounded nail complimented her fingers the best,” said Alex.
Just like a “no-makeup” makeup look, a beautiful nude nail is one of the hardest to achieve. In the same way that nude heels elongate the leg, creating the illusion of skin and having a meticulously shaped nail make for a beautiful manicure. With this look you have to have an eye for detail and pay attention to the detailing of the way you shape her nail, and the skin tone of her fingers.
First I used a Zoya base coat to ready the nail and then I applied two coats of Zoya in Avery, a nude that blended with the right undertones of her skin but still had a little pop. I finished the nail with a Zoya UV protector top coat. When i finished Emily looked at her nails and said “Wow, I really love this nude. You know how some nudes have too much pink? This one is perfect! Just enough pink and yellow undertones.”
