When I saw Naomi Campbell’s lips at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards, I screamed, “PAT MCGRATH!” That was my brains way of exclaiming how I felt about the ruby red lip glistening as she introduced Rihanna. Each glitter speck bounced off the camera creating a mini red light show on Naomi’s lips. It was definitely one of the top 5 makeup looks I’ve ever seen.
And because Pat McGrath, the woman who continuously reinvents makeup as we been wait decades for her to release a namesake line, has dropped limited edition makeups that fly off any shelf or online site within seconds, we are left to improvise. So with the some apple red lipstick and Amazon.com purchased glitter, we made due… sort of.

Lipstick – True Isaac Mizrahi Matte Lip Color in New Yorker
Lip liner – Honestly, use any lip liner that you love. I went for Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics in Lydia, but any will work. Just ensure it’s close to the lip shade and won’t take away from the glitter effect.
Lip Primer – Too Faced Lip Insurance
Glitter – I used a glitter I found on Amazon, but any should work. I don’t recommend one that is too gritty or too fine. You don’t want to cut your lips with the grittier one, and you want the glitter to stand out, not be seen as a part of the lipstick.
Applicator brush – Eye shadow sponge applicator is best in my opinion. They pick up and distribute the perfect amount. So if you want a lot or a little, you have control, not the applicator.
