This weekend (May 10 -11) Vulture + New York magazine host the first-ever Vulture Festival. In honor of today’s television, music, film, and everything that makes life so great today, the festival is furnished to bring the thought provoking side of the world wide webeverse to life. Imagine a more hygienic, funny, and interactive version of Coachella. Now bring it all to New York and jam it into one weekend. It’s basically a pop culture extravaganza, which I’m still confused on whether it’s the event name or not. With performances by M.I.A. and Solange, brunch with Rufus Wainwright, comedy night with Billy Eichner, Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer, Trivia with stars of OITNB, and the one I’m really looking forward to, Costume Designers Roundtable with Jenn Rogien and Tom Broeker, you’ll be geeking out before you can scream “Vulture Fest”.
Obviously there are so many more participants and special events happening, but I just created the longest run-on sentence of all time. So, had to cut the information short – obvi!
“We’ve assembled an all-star group of costume designers for the panel – and I’m honored to lead the conversation. I’m looking forward to asking Lyn Paolo about how she created Olivia Pope’s iconic wardrobe and helped fashion her identity through clothes — and Tom Broecker about the impeccably dressed Claire Underwood. I’m eager to speak with Jenn Rogien about how she creates such distinct characters through costume design on Girls – and about the costumes for the upcoming season 2 of Orange Is The New Black. I’ve recently binged on The Americans, too, so I’m planning to ask Jenny Gering about how she created a multitude of alter egos for Elizabeth and Philip Jennings. Since the panel falls on Mother’s Day, it’s a unique way to spend the afternoon with your mom,” said the Cut senior editor, Isabel Wilkinson.
